Shooting

Ian Peel, born and brought up in Slaidburn where he learnt to shoot before winning many medals at the Olympic, Commonwealth & European Games

There is game shooting in the area principally for pheasants, grouse and wildfowl but there is also culling of vermin.  While most of these activities are privately organised there are two clay pigeon grounds on Waddington Fell to the left and right of the road just above the Moorcock Inn.  Both operate on Sunday mornings around 10.00am and welcome visitors if proper insurance can be arranged.
